BABYLONIAN THEOLOGY AND HISTORY
The Greek form of the name Babylon is the Akkadian Bab-ilu, which means "Gate of God".
Located in the Mesopotamia region between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, where it originated its name - Mesopotamia means between rivers - the territory of present-day Iraq. In this region came the first urban civilizations.
At the beginning of the fourth millennium BC, various population groups occupied the area. Shepherds of the wilderness, fishermen and farmers of the plains swamps had contact with people from distant mountainous areas in search of raw materials that did not exist in the south of the region was initiated, therefore, a process of social differentiation, where a group won the monopoly on the production of wealth that society.
In 3700 BC, Babylon arises, not as an empire, but as a small urban setting, along the western banks of the Euphrates River. In the third millennium BC, Babylon was still a small town.
NIMROD`S (HAMMURABI) STORY
King of the old Babylonian period, his reign lasted from the year 1792 BC until the year 1750 BC Probably the greatest king of Mesopotamia. When he ascended the throne, Babel was a well organized prosperous city, but could not compare to the three powers of Assur, and Larsa Echunna.
His great masterpiece was the long process of unification never before attempted. Under his control were the Sumerians, Akkadians, amorritas, Canaanites, Assyrians, beyond the deserts and mountain tribes. The Acadians people gave the nomenclature of "King of the Four Parts World."
In accordance with the Sumerian model, refused to distinguish god, only accepting the title of "Sun de Babel".
Unified the people under his command in virtually all aspects. Appointed governors in each province and their work in order to speak one language among the people, who previously spoke several local dialects.
All property belonged to the king who paid him tribute.
Appointed fiefdoms for the aristocracy in which payment provided him soldiers for the army.
To the soldiers distributed the lands of the conquered countries, which guaranteed him loyalty and honor by soldiers. Collected taxes from the temples as well as charged of all the people.
Unified the people in the religious plane. Defined the deities not by force, but by the organization of thousands of Semitic and Sumerian gods which occasionally contradict each other, many of whom were the same that appeared under different names and titles and different places.
Another important fact was attributed to the Hammurabi compendium of laws and standards of conduct ocidentalmente known as the Code of Hammurabi. With the exception of the law of retaliation known as part of the Moses later reference when talking about "eye for eye, tooth for tooth", the code of Hammurabi is marked by a certain morality, where the weak often receive indulgences.
Hammurabi's code was written by King Hammurabi, about 1,900. C., ie some five hundred years before the Hebrews were reportedly freed from Egyptian judge by Moses.
This Code, which originated in the days of the patriarch Abraham, and became the first legal document that humanity has known.
His laws are directly based on the law of retribution. His laws rule entire life of the community; division of social classes, trade, interest, marriage, inheritance, etc. Under the laws of Hammurabi, injury and damage should be avenged with equivalent attitudes, and that is where we find the expression of retaliation: "eye for eye and tooth for tooth." Reportedly the king Hammurabi the example of Moses received the law from God Shamash, the Babylonian sun god
Under the command of Hammurabi, one of its most illustrious kings, Babylon became a power, but political unity was fragile, with independent city-states, making the city was invaded by various people, suffering successive destructions and reconstructions, but maintained their cultural and religious supremacy, thanks to the cult of the god Marduk, who was the patron god of Babylon.
Founded by Nimrod, Babel was the capital of the Babylonian Empire, a city-state extremely rich and powerful, a political, military, cultural and economic center of the ancient world.
This great king united all cities of Mesopotamia, forming the mighty empire of Babylon. His reign enjoyed a period of great cultural flourishing through literature, mathematics, astronomy and astrology, as well as justice.
Hammurabi left the kingdom in perfect order with thriving and continually expanding finances, making Babel cultural capital of all Asia Minor.
Later, for Jews, the name Babel acquired the meaning of "confusion" of the Hebrew Bavel, the root of ba.lál verb, meaning "to confuse". In Genesis, Babel becomes the center of the chaotic world and dispersion.
THE RELIGION
In Babylonian theological vision, the sky was the highest stratum of the universe, and everything is high was directly associated with that sphere. As a result many of their gods were represented by a star or a planet.
The supernatural universe was populated by divine beings, gods and demons, portrayed by human thought, in fact, carried our virtues and our faults. These gods in turn, needed to be fed, because within the antropomorphise so common in antiquity, possessed human needs, while they could also be joyful, sad, aggressive, ambitious vengeful, merciful, etc.
The Babylonian religion was polytheistic, where each city-state had its own pantheon. There was a complex religious system translated by collective representations of the sacred formulated by the Babylonian community, where, as throughout Mesopotamia everything was sacred.
The Babylonian deities had besides the name, marital status, function and were always connected to the city-state where they exercised their power and protection. All the deities were divided hierarchically, with fields defined role, privileges, powers and knowledge stipulated to each.
The deities inhabiting the environment of ziggurats, massive construction made of raw bricks, pyramid-shaped staggered, on whose top was built a small temple to be inhabited by the local deity, the best known being the city of the Babylonian ziggurat, formerly called Babel. The ziggurat of this city was known as É.TEMEN.AN.KI and the literal translation would be "the home of the foundation of heaven and earth." The relationship of this ziggurat with the biblical text refers to the period where everyone spoke one language, and attempting to get to God, the people of the time begin to build it, this time serving as the basis for Western culture, recorded in the book of Genesis, chapter 11, verses 1-9
It is believed that the tower would serve two main functions: scientific and religious.
The symbology of the country - "between rivers" is dominated by a double vision of the universe.
There is high in the sky and below the earth. These parts are inhabited by various gods. Believed that when the gods of the earth ascend to heaven, there would be a resting place for them and the same would happen when the gods of heaven come to earth needed.
Perhaps this is the main function of the ziggurat, mediate the participation of the gods, much of the land, as the sky in the lives of their worshipers.
The Ziggurat of Babel serve to reconnect all parts man and temple, the temple is the center of the universe and man creature established to worship and serve the gods and collaborate with them in their activities. Was also Nimrod, who had built the temple-tower of Babel.
This summarizes the religious purpose of the great temple-towers (the ziggurats) of ancient Sumer (Biblical Shinar). These huge, square with stairs and temples were seen as gateways to the gods come to earth, literal stairway to heaven. ("Reaching the sky" is a common description in the temple-towers.)
The Babylonian pantheon was made in the image of human social organization, hierarchical meaning, this structure is present in almost all religions of the world and models of your organization, were absorbed by Catholicism itself centuries later, in the classification of angels and the duties and functions exercised by the clergy.

BOOK OF JASHER - CHAPTER 7
30. And Nimrod became strong when he put on the garments, and God gave him
might and strength, and he was a mighty hunter in the earth, yea, he was a
mighty hunter in the field, and he hunted the animals and he built altars, and he
offered upon them the animals before the Lord.
31. And Nimrod strengthened himself, and he rose up from amongst his brethren,
and he fought the battles of his brethren against all their enemies round about.
32. And the Lord delivered all the enemies of his brethren in his hands, and God
prospered him from time to time in his battles, and he reigned upon earth.
33. Therefore it became current in those days, when a man ushered forth those that
he had trained up for battle, he would say to them, Like God did to Nimrod, who
was a mighty hunter in the earth, and who succeeded in the battles that
prevailed against his brethren, that he delivered them from the hands of their
enemies, so may God strengthen us and deliver us this day.
34. And when Nimrod was forty years old, at that time there was a war between his
brethren and the children of Japheth, so that they were in the power of their
enemies.
35. And Nimrod went forth at that time, and he assembled all the sons of Cush and
their families, about four hundred and sixty men, and he hired also from some
of his friends and acquaintances about eighty men, and be gave them their hire,
and he went with them to battle, and when he was on the road, Nimrod
strengthened the hearts of the people that went with him.
36. And he said to them, Do not fear, neither be alarmed, for all our enemies will be
delivered into our hands, and you may do with them as you please.
37. And all the men that went were about five hundred, and they fought against
their enemies, and they destroyed them, and subdued them, and Nimrod placed
standing officers over them in their respective places.
38. And he took some of their children as security, and they were all servants to
Nimrod and to his brethren, and Nimrod and all the people that were with him
turned homeward.
39. And when Nimrod had joyfully returned from battle, after having conquered his
enemies, all his brethren, together with those who knew him before, assembled
to make him king over them, and they placed the regal crown upon his head.
40. And he set over his subjects and people, princes, judges, and rulers, as is the custom amongst kings
41. And he placed Terah the son of Nahor the prince of his host, and he dignified
him and elevated him above all his princes.
42. And whilst he was reigning according to his heart's desire, after having
conquered all his enemies around, he advised with his counselors to build a city
for his palace, and they did so.
43. And they found a large valley opposite to the east, and they built him a large
and extensive city, and Nimrod called the name of the city that he built Shinar,
for the Lord had vehemently shaken his enemies and destroyed them.
44. And Nimrod dwelt in Shinar, and he reigned securely, and he fought with his
enemies and he subdued them, and he prospered in all his battles, and his
kingdom became very great.
45. And all nations and tongues heard of his fame, and they gathered themselves
to him, and they bowed down to the earth, and they brought him offerings, and
he became their lord and king, and they all dwelt with him in the city at Shinar,
and Nimrod reigned in the earth over all the sons of Noah, and they were all
under his power and counsel.
46. And all the earth was of one tongue and words of union, but Nimrod did not go
in the ways of the Lord, and he was more wicked than all the men that were
before him, from the days of the flood until those days.
47. And he made gods of wood and stone, and he bowed down to them, and he
rebelled against the Lord, and taught all his subjects and the people of the earth
his wicked ways; and Mardon his son was more wicked than his father

4.26 -- Evil Angels Seducers.
"Now therefore, since you do not yet understand how great darkness of ignorance surrounds you, meantime I wish to explain to you whence the worship of idols began in this world. And by idols, I mean those lifeless images which you worship, whether made of wood, or earthenware, or stone, or brass, or any other metals: of these the beginning was in this wise.
"Certain angels, having left the course of their proper order, began to favour the vices of men,22 and in some measure to lend unworthy aid to their lust, in order that by these means they might indulge their own pleasures the more; and then, that they might not seem to be inclined of their own accord to unworthy services, taught men that demons could, by certain arts -- that is, by magical invocations -- be made to obey men; and so, as from a furnace and workshop of wickedness, they filled the whole world with the smoke of impiety, the light of piety being withdrawn."
4.27 -- Ham the First Magician.
"For these and some other causes, a flood was brought upon the world,23 as we have said already, and shall say again; and all who were upon the earth were destroyed, except the family of Noah, who survived, with his three sons and their wives.
"One of these, by name Ham, unhappily discovered the magical act, and handed down the instruction of it to one of his sons, who was called Mesraim, from whom the race of the Egyptians and Babylonians and Persians are descended. Him the nations who then existed called Zoroaster,24 admiring him as the first author of the magic art; trader whose name also many books on this subject exist.
"He therefore, being much and frequently intent upon the stars, and wishing to be esteemed a god among them, began to draw forth, as it were, certain sparks from the stars, and to show them to men, in order that the rude and ignorant might be astonished, as with a miracle; and desiring to increase this estimation of him, he attempted these things again and again, until he was set on fire, and consumed by the demon himself, whom he accosted with too great importunity."
4.28 -- Tower of Babel.
"But the foolish men who were then, whereas they ought to have abandoned the opinion which they had conceived of him, inasmuch as they had seen it confuted by his mortal punishment, extolled him the more. For raising a sepulchre to his honour, they went so far as to adore him as a friend of God, and one who had been removed to heaven in a chariot of lightning, and to worship him as if he were a living star. Hence also his name was called Zoroaster after his death -- that is, living star -- by those who, after one generation, had been taught to speak the Greek language.
"In fine, by this example, even now many worship those who have been struck with lightning, honouring them with sepulchres, and worshipping them as friends of God. But this man was born in the fourteenth generation, and died in the fifteenth, in which the tower was built, and the languages of men were divided into many."
4.29 -- Fire-Worship of the Persians.
"First among whom is named a certain king Nimrod, the magic art having been handed down to him as by a flash, whom the Greeks, also called Ninus, and from whom the city of Nineveh took its name. Thus, therefore, diverse and erratic superstitions took their beginning from the magic art.
"For, because it was difficult to draw away the human race from the love of God, and attach them to deaf and lifeless images, the magicians made use of higher efforts, that men might be turned to erratic worship, by signs among the stars, and motions brought down as it were from heaven, and by the will of God. And those who had been first deceived, collecting the ashes of Zoroaster, -- who, as we have said, was burnt up by the indignation of the demon, to whom he had been too troublesome, -- brought them to the Persians, that they might be preserved by them with perpetual watching, as divine fire fallen from heaven, and might be worshipped as a heavenly God."
4.30 -- Hero-Worship.
"By a like example, other men in other places built temples, set up statues, instituted mysteries and ceremonies and sacrifices, to those whom they had admired, either for some arts or for virtue, or at least had held in very great affection; and rejoiced, by means of all things belonging to gods, to hand down their fame to posterity; and that especially, because, as we have already said, they scented to be supported by some phantasies of magic art, so that by invocation of demons something seemed to be done and moved by them towards the deception of men.
"To these they add also certain solemnities, and drunken banquets, in which men might with all freedom indulge; and demons, conveyed into them in the chariot of repletion, might be mixed with their very bowels, and holding a place there, might bind the acts and thoughts of men to their own will.
"Such errors, then, having been introduced from the beginning, and having been aided by lust and drunkenness, in which carnal men chiefly delight, the religion of God, which consisted in continence and sobriety, began to become rare amongst men, and to be well-nigh abolished."

BOOK OF JASHER - CHAPTER 9 (TOWER OF BABEL)
20. And king Nimrod reigned securely, and all the earth was under his control, and
all the earth was of one tongue and words of union.
21. And all the princes of Nimrod and his great men took counsel together; Phut,
Mitzraim, Cush and Canaan with their families, and they said to each other,
Come let us build ourselves a city and in it a strong tower, and its top reaching
heaven, and we will make ourselves famed, so that we may reign upon the
whole world, in order that the evil of our enemies may cease from us, that we
may reign mightily over them, and that we may not become scattered over the
earth on account of their wars.
22. And they all went before the king, and they told the king these words, and the
king agreed with them in this affair, and he did so.
23. And all the families assembled consisting of about six hundred thousand men,
and they went to seek an extensive piece of ground to build the city and the
tower, and they sought in the whole earth and they found none like one valley at
the east of the land of Shinar, about two days' walk, and they journeyed there
and they dwelt there.
24. And they began to make bricks and burn fires to build the city and the tower that
they had imagined to complete.
25. And the building of the tower was unto them a transgression and a sin, and they
began to build it, and whilst they were building against the Lord God of heaven,
they imagined in their hearts to war against him and to ascend into heaven.
26. And all these people and all the families divided themselves in three parts; the
first said We will ascend into heaven and fight against him; the second said, We
will ascend to heaven and place our own gods there and serve them; and the
third part said, We will ascend to heaven and smite him with bows and spears;
and God knew all their works and all their evil thoughts, and he saw the city and
the tower which they were building.
27. And when they were building they built themselves a great city and a very high
and strong tower; and on account of its height the mortar and bricks did not
reach the builders in their ascent to it, until those who went up had completed a
full year, and after that, they reached to the builders and gave them the mortar
and the bricks; thus was it done daily.
28. And behold these ascended and others descended the whole day; and if a brick
should fall from their hands and get broken, they would all weep over it, and if a
man fell and died, none of them would look at him.
29. And the Lord knew their thoughts, and it came to pass when they were building
they cast the arrows toward the heavens, and all the arrows fell upon them filled
with blood, and when they saw them they said to each other, Surely we have
slain all those that are in heaven.
30. For this was from the Lord in order to cause them to err, and in order; to destroy
them from off the face of the ground.
31. And they built the tower and the city, and they did this thing daily until many
days and years were elapsed.
32. And God said to the seventy angels who stood foremost before him, to those
who were near to him, saying, Come let us descend and confuse their tongues,
that one man shall not understand the language of his neighbor, and they did so
unto them.
33. And from that day following, they forgot each man his neighbor's tongue, and they could not understand to speak in one tongue, and when the builder took
from the hands of his neighbor lime or stone which he did not order, the builder
would cast it away and throw it upon his neighbor, that he would die.
34. And they did so many days, and they killed many of them in this manner.
35. And the Lord smote the three divisions that were there, and he punished them
according to their works and designs; those who said, We will ascend to heaven
and serve our gods, became like apes and elephants; and those who said, We
will smite the heaven with arrows, the Lord killed them, one man through the
hand of his neighbor; and the third division of those who said, We will ascend to
heaven and fight against him, the Lord scattered them throughout the earth.
36. And those who were left amongst them, when they knew and understood the
evil which was coming upon them, they forsook the building, and they also
became scattered upon the face of the whole earth.
37. And they ceased building the city and the tower; therefore he called that place
Babel, for there the Lord confounded the Language of the whole earth; behold it
was at the east of the land of Shinar.
38. And as to the tower which the sons of men built, the earth opened its mouth and
swallowed up one third part thereof, and a fire also descended from heaven and
burned another third, and the other third is left to this day, and it is of that part
which was aloft, and its circumference is three days' walk.
39. And many of the sons of men died in that tower, a people without number.

Speak I of Ancient Atlantis,

Swift then they lifted the Veil from the serpent

BABYLONIAN THEOLOGY AND HISTORY
The Greek form of the name Babylon is the Akkadian Bab-ilu, which means "Gate of God".

The relationship of this ziggurat with the biblical text refers to the period where everyone spoke one language, and attempting to get to God, the people of the time begin to build it, this time serving as the basis for Western culture, recorded in the book of Genesis, chapter 11, verses 1-9
It is believed that the tower would serve two main functions: scientific and religious.
The symbology of the country - "between rivers" is dominated by a double vision of the universe.
There is high in the sky and below the earth. These parts are inhabited by various gods. Believed that when the gods of the earth ascend to heaven, there would be a resting place for them and the same would happen when the gods of heaven come to earth needed.

Come let us build ourselves a city and in it a strong tower, and its top reaching

22. And they all went before the king, and they told the king these words, and the

and they went to seek an extensive piece of ground to build the city and the
tower, and they sought in the whole earth and they found none like one valley at
the east of the land of Shinar, about two days' walk, and they journeyed there

they had imagined to complete.
25. And the building of the tower was unto them a transgression and a sin, and they
began to build it, and whilst they were building against the Lord God of heaven,

will ascend to heaven and place our own gods there and serve them; and the

27. And when they were building they built themselves a great city and a very high
and strong tower; and on account of its height the mortar and bricks did not

28. And behold these ascended and others descended the whole day; and if a brick
should fall from their hands and get broken, they would all weep over it, and if a
man fell and died, none of them would look at him.

2 COLUMNS OF THE TEMPLE: Jachin and Boaz
"He set up the pillars in the porch of the temple; and set up the right pillar, and called her name Jachin; and set up the left pillar, and called her name Boaz. "I Kings 7:21
Jachin - means "He (God) will establish". Hope.
- God will establish: mean: make stable, shall confirm, stabilize, fix, sit, organize, determine, ordain, accommodated, and will remain.
2 Boaz - means "in Him (God) is Strength". (Faith).
- God's strength to say: do able, vigorous, influencer, an abundant portion, virtuous, warm, and powerful.
In the temple built by King Solomon, there were several support columns, but two of them were in the outer court, one was called Jachin: which means: "He states," and the other was called Boaz, which means: "In it is strength."
In the spiritual meaning we learn that when we enter the presence of God, we glimpse the two pillars of our salvation. Hope and Faith In them are the security of our salvation, we are established in them, strengthened and grounded. Without hope, will not support the struggles of life without faith does not prove the promises that God has prepared for us, after we conquer the promised land.

TEOLOGIA BABILÔNICA E HISTÓRIA
A forma grega do nome Babilônia é o acadiano Bab-ilu, que significa "porta de Deus".
Localizado na região da Mesopotâmia, entre os rios Tigre e Eufrates, onde se originou seu nome - Mesopotâmia significa entre rios - o território do atual Iraque. Nesta região surgiram as primeiras civilizações urbanas.
No início do quarto milênio aC, os diversos grupos populacionais ocuparam a área. Pastores do deserto, pescadores e agricultores dos pântanos planícies teve contato com pessoas de áreas montanhosas distantes em busca de matérias-primas que não existiam no sul da região foi iniciado, portanto, um processo de diferenciação social, onde um grupo ganhou o monopólio sobre a produção de riqueza que a sociedade.
Em 3700 aC, a Babilônia surge, não como um império, mas como um pequeno cenário urbano, ao longo das margens ocidentais do rio Eufrates. No terceiro milênio aC, a Babilônia ainda era uma cidade pequena.
NIMROD (Hamurabi) - HISTÓRIA
Rei do período babilônico antigo, seu reinado durou desde o ano 1792 aC até o ano de 1750 aC Provavelmente, o maior rei da Mesopotâmia. Quando ele ascendeu ao trono, Babel era uma cidade próspera bem organizado, mas não podia se comparar com os três poderes de Assur, e Larsa Echunna.
Sua grande obra foi o longo processo de unificação nunca antes tentada. Sob seu comando foram os sumérios, acádios, amorritas, cananeus, assírios, além dos desertos e tribos das montanhas. As pessoas acadians deu a nomenclatura de "rei das quatro partes do mundo."
De acordo com o modelo sumério, recusou-se a distinguir deus, só aceitar o título de "Sol de Babel".
Unificou as pessoas sob seu comando em praticamente todos os aspectos. Governadores nomeados em cada província e de seu trabalho, a fim de falar uma língua entre as pessoas, que anteriormente falavam vários dialetos locais.
Toda a propriedade pertencia ao rei, que foi homenageado.
Feudos designado para a aristocracia em que o pagamento deu-lhe soldados para o exército.

A RELIGIÃO

As divindades que habitam o ambiente de zigurates, construção maciça feita de tijolos crus, escalonada em forma de pirâmide, em cujo topo foi construído um pequeno templo para ser habitada pela divindade local, sendo a mais conhecida a cidade do zigurate da Babilônia, anteriormente chamada Babel. O zigurate da cidade era conhecida como É.TEMEN.AN.KI ea tradução literal seria "a casa da fundação do céu e da terra." A relação deste zigurate com o texto bíblico refere-se ao período em que todos falavam uma língua, e tentar chegar a Deus, o povo da época começar a construí-lo, desta vez servindo como base para a cultura ocidental, registrado no livro de Gênesis, capítulo 11, versículos 1-9
Acredita-se que a torre que servem duas funções principais: científicos e religiosos.
A simbologia do país - "entre rios" é dominado por uma visão dupla do universo.
